The consultation on the future face of Borehamwood has been extended to allow as many people as possible to have their voices heard.

Members of the public will now have until March 31 to write into the planning inspector with their views on the new draft of the Elstree Way Corridor Area Action Plan.

This was announced at a meeting tonight at the Ark Theatre in Thrift Farm Lane by the town council.

The consultation will give members of the public a chance to learn more about the plan for at least 800 homes and associated infrastructure.

Hertsmere borough councillor Harvey Cohen, who has responsibility for planning, urged people to read the Elstree Way Corridor Area Action Plan and then write to Hertsmere Borough Council with well-argued requests of what they want the town to look like, based on fact.

He said: “We can’t stop people building in Borehamwood. The law favours developers.

“The reason why we have an action plan is so that we can control where the building goes and ensure it is in keeping with the rest of the town.

“We want the views of as many individuals as possible. I can’t go back in the past, all I can do is take you all forward on the journey with me.”
