A young woman will take part in one of this year’s Race for Life challenges to help raise cash for a leading cancer charity.

Alexandra Wood, 27, of Studio Way, Borehamwood, plans to complete the 5K course in Delemere Forest, Cheshire, along with her sister Samantha Wood, 35, on Sunday, May 18.

Inspired to take part in the race by their mum’s current battle with cancer, the sisters aim to raise in excess of £500 for Cancer Research UK.

Alexandra said: “Cancer is a disease that touches many people’s lives and when my mum was diagnosed it was absolutely devastating.

“By taking part in Race for Life we hope to make a difference by raising lots of money to help fight against cancer once and for all.”

Samantha, who lives in North Wales, not far from where the event will be held, said: “I try to complete a charity run every year, but this year’s challenge will be extra special for two reasons; firstly, because my mum is currently bravely battling against the disease; and secondly, because I will be running it with my little sister.

“Together we will make mum proud.”
