Members of the public had the chance to meet their town councillors to chat informally about issues affecting them.

Elstree and Borehamwood town councillors Sandra Parnell, Pat Strack, Clive Butchins and Farida Turner were in 96 Shenley Road yesterday morning for the first ever drop-in session.

Eight residents chatted to councillors about parking in Station Road, the removal of fly-tipped rubbish at Isopad House and Three Ways, dropped kerbs, streetlights being out and whether planning permission is needed for garden sheds.

Cllr Strack said the session had been an interesting experiment, however the council was keen to run evening drop-in sessions to ensure councillors who worked during the day could attend.

She said: “The topics for discussion were far ranging and surprising.

“In lighter moments religion was debated and the meaning of life. All was light hearted and we hope residents will come along to similar events.

“Thank you to the staff at 96 for making us so welcome."

i attended the drop in surgery as i was having trouble understanding einstein's theory of relativity and had an ache in my big toe. They struggled to help me. a positive shower ! although i must say cllr butchins gave me a lift home and did explain that the theory basically was if i arrived somewhere before i left, i would be younger or something like that. therefore overall thumbs up for the surgery.

Perhaps Affinity Sutton should attend the meetings so that they can hear about all the repairs complaints they receive but ignore all the time.
