People who want to run their own businesses but have no idea how to start are being given the tools to realise their dreams.

Housing association Affinity Sutton is working with the Pop-Up Business School to run a two-week programme for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The free course, will run at Farriers Way Community Centre in Borehamwood from February 10, aims to help people start a business cheaply by using non-traditional business models. It can also help those wishing to grow an existing business.

Affinity Sutton employment and training manager Erica Watts said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our residents to get their business idea off the ground. The programme offers lots of invaluable tips and advice, all of which are based on having virtually no overheads.

“The Pop-up Business School has had massive success with the programme in other parts of the country and we’re hoping this will be replicated in Borehamwood.

“I would encourage any of our residents who are considering setting up by themselves – or already have a business they’d like to grow – to register and come along to learn what’s possible.”
