A library which allows parents to provide their children with new games and toys without breaking the bank has just received a funding boost.

Councillors Sandra Parnell and Farida Turner have donated £1,000 to The Toy Library at the Borehamwood and Elstree Children’s Centre.

The money, given as part of Hertsmere Borough Council’s ward improvement initiative, will be spent on increasing the choice of toys available for families with children under the age of five.

Anne Frisch works for Hertsmere Leisure, which operates the centre. She said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this funding from the councillors which will enable us to extend the library that provides such a valuable service to parents, childminders and, of course, the children."

Cllr Turner said: "It's wonderful to be in a position to give joy to the very youngest residents of our community."
