Borehamwood people taken ill over the weekend can now go to their local GP.

Elstree Way Clinic in Borehamwood offers GP appointments for people with non-life threatening illnesses from 8am until 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

To use the service, patients must call NHS 111 for an appointment, unless they have a 0208 phone number in which case they should call 03000 333 333.

Dr Raja Ganguly, who chairs the Hertsmere locality of Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group said: “This service gives patients in Hertsmere greater and easier access to a GP at the weekends in a facility close to where they live.

“Dialling 111 will get you straight through to someone who will assess your symptoms and direct you to the right place to get help. And for most people, that won’t be the A&E department as this should be kept for the small number of people who have a very serious or life threatening condition.”
