Charities and community groups needing a cash boost can apply to the council for a grant to make their organisation better.

There is still money available in Hertsmere Borough Council’s Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme for this financial year.

Each councillor is allocated £1000 as part of the scheme to give to local projects in their wards.

Recent beneficiaries include Elstree Cricket Club, which received £1,000 for new showers and toilets and Radlett Lawn Tennis Club, which was awarded £250 towards a disability sports programme.
