An empty pub could now be sold for redevelopment after councillors reverse their decision to list it as an asset of community value.

The Crown Pub in Shenley Road was taken off the list by Hertsmere Borough Council as it failed to meet the necessary requirement of furthering the social wellbeing and interests of the local community.

The reason given for the decision was that council officers said there was no evidence the group that had nominated it, Save the Crown, would be able to raise enough money to keep it up and running.

The report also said there had been no evidence members of the public objected to losing The Crown, apart from a small number of individuals in the Save the Crown group.
