A new chamber of commerce has appointed a champion for businesses in Borehamwood and the surrounding area.

Hertsmere Connect has named Sharon King as its new inward investment and membership manager, tasked with increasing investment and business sustainability in the borough.

A former head of marketing for a national law firm, Ms King has worked for companied incluing RSA and the Bank of Scotland and charities including Oxfam.

Chief executive of Hertsmere Commect Ian Welland praised Ms King’s “wealth of experience” in strategy and marketing, which she would use to support businesses in Borehamwood, Elstree, Bushey and Potters Bar.

He said: “Sharon’s primary role is to attract new businesses into the Hertsmere area, in addition to supporting businesses already based in Hertsmere.”

Hertsmere Connect was launched by Watford Chamber of Commerce and Hertsmere Borough Council, and Mr Welland said the appointment was evidence of the council’s commitment to economic development.

Councillor Seamus Quilty, who has responsibility for housing and development, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Sharon. She will play an important role in supporting the existing business community members in Hertsmere, as well as focusing on opportunities to develop the business infrastructure in the borough still further and help boost the local economy.

“Hertsmere Connect provides a crucial link between Hertsmere Borough Council and local businesses, enabling us to work together for the benefit of our communities.”
