Decision on future of Arundel Social Club in Three Ways Community Centre delayed

The decision on whether to evict the manager of a social club will be delayed until the New Year.

Karen Ward, who runs Arundel Social Club in Three Ways Community Centre, appeared at Watford District Court on Monday after she refused to hand over the keys to Hertsmere Leisure.

Mrs Ward said she was promised by the former chief executive of Hertsmere Leisure Phil Collins she would be granted a three-year lease if everything went smoothly, which she claims it has.

She added Hertsmere Leisure refused to renew the lease in February when she failed to pay the rent on time because she had not been sent an invoice.

Hertsmere Leisure disputes the allegations.

The judge decided to delay a decision until he had heard from Mr Collins about the agreement between him and Mrs Ward and given both sides time to respond.

A final decision is expected in March.
