More than a hundred people of all ages gathered in Shenley to celebrate the Jewish festival of lights.

Rabbi Alan Garber of The Shenley United Jewish community lit the menorah outside the Shenley Cage and Pond on Saturday at an event organised by Shenley Parish Council.

Guests were treated to songs by the children's choir and free doughnuts and dreidels were handed out.

Yawn, will you ever post on here without using the words 'racist' or 'bigot'?

I have no problem with any race of people, I have muslim neighbours who, to be honest are nice friendly people, I have a few black and asian friends (not many i admit, as Borehamwood is fairly 'white' still, and I work for a company run by a Sihk family who are really nice people to work for.

I just have a problem with the amount of jewish news locally considering such a small percentage of the community is jewish, that's all. -

No need to get all worked up and try to belittle me, you just make yourself look childish, and your not doing your local community any favours by acting like this...

First of all I'm not Jewish. Nice of you "to be honest" in admitting your neighbours are nice despite their religion. See you refer to a persons religion as if its a surprise if they are actually nice people. At best you're extremely ignorant and at worse a closet racist.

Don't twist my words. I was saying that they were nice and they are different religions, nothing about being suprised they were nice.

as if religion makes a difference. Theres good and bad in all and its nothing to do with a persons colour, creed or religion. If theres an event in Borehamwood be it Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Christian or the moon worshipping cult of Shenley Village then good on the Borehamwood Times for reporting it.
