Hindus celebrate festival of lights at Bhaktivedanta Manor in Aldenham
Aldenham's Hare Krishna Temple hosted an evening to celebrate the Hindu festival of lights Diwali.
About 10,000 people flocked to Bhaktivedanta Manor, in Hillfield Lane, Aldenham, to enjoy the festivities.
The temple was the centre of celebrations across Hertsmere, which featured a special play about the history of the festival of lights as well as traditional Hindu food and dancing.
Temple spokesman Radha Mohan Das said: "It was a really fantastic day. We were extremely lucky with the weather and it was a fitting way to celebrate our 40th anniversary."
Diwali, which celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance, is the biggest Hindu festival.
Special guests at the manor included several MPs and local mayors.
