Borehamwood people invited to Parkinson's Disease awareness day
An appeal has been made for Borehamwood people with Parkinson’s Disease to find out more about the condition and join a support group at a free open day.
Parkinson’s UK West Herts Branch will be holding the event for people who have been diagnosed with the condition, and their family or carers.
It is hoped people from Borehamwood, who are underrepresented in the branch, will attend the event.
Film of activities on offer including exercise, dance and singing classes will be shown.
Members will talk about how the classes have helped them relieve symptoms, increase mobility and help with speech problems associated with the disease.
Representatives from the UK head office, specialist nurses and neurological consultants will also be on hand.
Branch Secretary Richard Windle said: “Many people do not want to join an organisation after they have been diagnosed, but we are hoping that this event will show the benefit of some of the activities and services the branch can offer.
“It is also an opportunity for our branch to find out what activities and events people might want us to arrange.”
It will take place at Greenwood Park Community Centre, Tippendell Lane, St Albans, from 11am to 3pm on November 2.
The group is open to anyone living in Borehamwood, St Albans, Watford and other parts of West Herts.
