St Jude's storm destroys trees at Aldenham temple
Heavy winds brought trees crashing down in the grounds of a temple.
St Jude's storm toppled trees on the grass verges outside Bhaktivedanta Manor, in Hillfield Lane, Aldenham.
The largest tree on the manor’s front lawn was uprooted during the storm, crushing a bench.
Another cherry tree snapped in half, destroying shrubs and smaller trees around it as it fell to the ground.
Radha Mohan Das, the temple’s secretary, said: “We lost one of our largest trees in the front lawn which obviously is a bit of a shame.
“We’re really lucky it fell forwards otherwise it could have caused a lot more damage. The cherry tree must have been weak in the middle already for it to snap at the place it did.
“Fortunately, nobody was hurt.”
