Driver arrested over six-car crash at Stirling Corner between Edgware and Borehamwood
A woman has been arrested in connection with a six-car crash that left two people in hospital this morning.
The 27-year-old was detained on suspicion of dangerous driving after the collision on the northbound A1 Barnet Way, approaching Stirling Corner roundabout, at 8.30am.
A 30-year-old woman was rushed to the major trauma centre at St Mary’s Hospital in central London, while a second woman in her fifties was taken to Barnet Hospital with minor injuries.
Firefighters also cut one woman free from one of the vehicles.
The northbound carriageway of the A1 was closed between Apex Corner and Stirling Corner for several hours, but has since reopened.
The closure caused severe delays in the Edgware and Mill Hill areas and traffic remains slow.
