1st Radlett Scout Group in the running for Lloyds Community Award
A scout group that has been helping children experience new adventures since 1918 is in the running for a £3,000 grant.
1st Radlett Scout Group, based in Scrubbits Park Road in Radlett, has been shortlisted as one of four good causes that could benefit from Lloyds Bank’s community fund.
As part of the scheme, members of the public vote for a group that is important to them and the two causes with the most votes are awarded £3,000.
The other two receive grants of £300 each.
The group, which currently has 90 Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, is run entirely by volunteers.
As well as running weekly meetings, the leaders also take the boys and girls camping and do other activities at weekends.
The grant would be used to improve and maintain the scout group’s headquarters, which was built in the 1960s.
The group is also seeking new adult helpers to help at meetings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Anyone who is interested should contact Group Scout Leader Jackie Glover at firstname.lastname@example.org
