Snow days may be a thing of the past for one primary school, thanks to a donation from a local councillor.
Hertfordshire County Councillor Caroline Clapper has allocated £430.95 from her locality budget to St John’s Infant and Nursery School in Radlett.
The money will be used to buy two extra grit bins, a spreader and wheeled snow pusher for the school in Gills Hill Lane.
She said: “Children should not have to miss out on school because of bad weather; it affects their education and makes life much more difficult for working parents.
“I am very pleased to be helping out St John’s, which is not on a gritting route but nonetheless difficult to get to during adverse weather."
