Hertfordshire County Councillor Leon Reefe funds karate club from locality budget
A karate club will not be getting the chop thanks to a donation from a local councillor.
Hertfordshire County Councillor for Borehamwood North Councillor Leon Reefe has allocated £1000 from his locality budget to Kosmo Shotokan Karate Club in Buckton Road in Borehamwood.
The funds will pay for the cost of renting the hall for a year to hold karate classes.
The new hall will be a better place for people to train, with more space and better floors.
The karate club teaches all ages and abilities, from beginner to black belt.
The club teaches people self defence, discipline and how to live a healthier lifestyle.
It also helps those with dyspraxia, autism, anger issues and ADHD.
Cllr Reefe said: “This karate club is ideal for helping youngsters learn the disciplines of self-defence as well as learning about fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
“It’s well worth support from my locality budget, particularly as it is in my division and helps mainly young people from Borehamwood.”
