Celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo cooks up storm at Edge Grove, Aldenham
Mouth-watering Italian dishes were on the menu at a school when a celebrity chef dropped in to give students cooking tips.
Gino D’Acampo cooked up a storm at Edge Grove, Aldenham Village, as he taught Years 6, 7 and 8 how to make a three-course meal.
The 11 to 13-year-old’s cooked signature Italian dishes including artichoke pizza, rice balls, bruschetta and pastries.
They also tried their hand at drinks making with D’Acampo’s special prosecco and limoncello recipe for their parents, who gathered to watch the masterclass.
Marketing co-ordinator Joanna Morrison told the Borehamwood Times: “It was really interesting - he taught them to keep smiling and keep their heads up whilst they’re cooking.
“Everyone helped chop the vegetables and help make the pasta sauce and they all had a great time. They got really stuck in and you can tell he was enjoying it as much as the children were.
“He was a great mentor to them as well as a fantastic coach.”
Ten boys and girls from the school were picked to take part in the masterclass as part of their Edge Grove award - the school’s life skills programme.
D’Acampo, who stars in Gino’s Italian Escape, sponsors the school’s home economics department - known as Gino’s Kitchen Academy.
Ms Morrison added: “It’s a really exciting facility and a great honour to have Gino come down and teach the children how to cook.”
