Allum Lane in Borehamwood partially closed by fallen tree
A road was partially closed as workmen struggled to remove a fallen tree.
Allum Lane railway bridge was temporarily closed this afternoon while Hertfordshire Highways removed a horse chesnut tree that had been blown over by the wind.
Police were called after the tree toppled at about 12.30pm.
PC Paul Chalkley, of Borehamwood Police, said: "It's been a bit of a nightmare with having to divert traffic, we had to close the road into Borehamwood to all but buses.
"It's lucky nothing was hit when the tree came down, it was over part of the road."
Herts Highways worked quickly to clear the road and remove the branches strewn across the road.
