Radlett girl becomes princess for the weekend at twin town of Louve
Swathed in silk and surrounded by flowers, a Radlett girl became a princess for the weekend.
Olivia Salmon was chosen to act as maid of honour to the queen of the annual Festival of Flowers in Radlett’s twin town of Louveciennes, near Versailles in France.
Each year the festival, which took place during the third weekend in September, includes a parade of floats decorated with thousands of fresh flowers that weaves its way through the historic town.
Olivia was accompanied by princesses from the town's other twins, Meersberg in Germany and Vama in Romania.
She said: “The music played, the children skipped and laughed and the whole occasion had a lovely community feel.
"It was such a pleasure and privilege to represent the twinning with Radlett and play such a fun role in their annual Fête des Fleurs.”
The chairman of Radlett’s town twinning association Clive Glover also visited Louveciennes for the event.
He said: “The whole weekend was a fantastic display of the local community spirit with events such as a giant Lotto game, classic car event and a magnificent firework display as well as the parade.
“We all felt privileged to be invited to this event.”
