Newlyweds take advantage of housing scheme in Borehamwood

A newly married couple say they are “thrilled” after finding their first home thanks to help of a national scheme.
Wieslaw and Marta Grygny, who previously rented in Barnet, took advantage of a shared ownership scheme with housing association Affinity Sutton to buy their first home in Borehamwood.
Shared ownership allows people to purchase part of the worth of the property, between 25 per cent and 75 per cent of the value.
Wieslaw, 24, said, “The scheme was the only way we could possibly get a mortgage, and we now have a whole apartment rather than just a room.
“What was nice was the fact we were able to meet the previous owners, as they showed us around the property – it was particularly interesting because they can tell you all about what it is actually like living there.”
After the initial purchase people can then buy more shares in the property to eventually own all out right.
