Peace Hospice, Borehamwood, backs World Hospice Day
A Borehamwood charity shop is backing an “emotional” campaign to help African orphans and Indian children with cancer.
Borehamwood's Peace Hospice Shop, in Shenley Road, will take part in World Hospice Day on Sunday, October 13.
The Peace Hospice, based in Watford, has forged links with orphaned children in Lesotho and with the Cankids Cancer Centre for children in India.
Last year, the Peace Hospice raised more than £44,000 for the event and sent gifts of teddy bears to the children.
Rachel Fowler, corporate development manager, said: “It was an emotional project.
“We did some activities at the ‘cancer centre’ and helped transform the building so it was bright and cheerful.
“The staff were so amazing. As a group, we all worked hard to try and make a difference to these children and their families. They were very appreciative and we all got so much back just by getting involved.”
