Hertsmere Connect chamber of commerce to launch
A chamber of commerce that will support local businesses and boost the economy is being launched.
Hertsmere Borough Council has joined forces with Watford Chamber of Commerce to create Hertsmere Connect, which will be launched later this month.
Open to all businesses in the area, the network will provide advocacy, enable them to make contacts, and give support and advice on issues from setting up to selling overseas.
Deputy leader of the council Councillor John Graham believes the formation of a chamber of commerce would be a great step forward to local businesses and the economy.
He said: “The creation of a local chamber of commerce forms part of the council’s on-going commitment to economic wellbeing by creating a business-friendly environment.
“Businesses will be able to benefit from a strong and proactive chamber which will enable them to network across the whole of south west Hertfordshire and ultimately help their business prosper.
"The chamber will definitely make Hertsmere a better place in which to do business.”
Chief executive of Watford Chamber of Commerce, Roger Gagan, said Hertsmere Connect would benefit employees as well as employers.
He said: “It's not just the company that joins the chamber of commerce, every employee becomes a member too with opportunities to get involved and benefit personally and professionally from our extensive activities.”
Hertsmere Connect will be officially launched during an event at Elstree Studios on October 22.
Managing director of the studios Roger Morris will talk about the business of creativity and there will be a tour of the site.
Ticket are £10 with money going to the Mayor of Hertsmere’s chosen charities.
Businesses will have the chance to find out more about how the network will work at the Best Business Expo in Elstree Holiday Inn on October 10, where Hertsmere Connect will have a stand.
