Borehamwood Foodbank in the running for Lloyds community grant
A scheme that provides food for local people in crisis is in the running for a £3,000 donation.
Borehamwood Foodbank has been shortlisted as one of four good causes that could benefit from Lloyds Bank’s community fund.
As part of the scheme, members of the public choose four local causes that are important to them.
People then vote for each group and the two causes with the most votes are awarded £3,000.
The other two receive grants of £300 each.
The foodbank, which operates from St Teresa’s Church in Shenley Road, has fed 618 people since it was launched in February.
Its chairman Kristin Payne said: “The fund would enable our lunch project to provide a balanced meal with fresh fruit and vegetables for families who are struggling, especially in the school holidays when breakfast clubs and free school meals are not available.”
The other three organisations in the running for the grant are 11th Edgware Scouts Group, Brookside Boys Club and 1st Radlett Scout Group
