The winner of a competition designed to promote Borehamwood’s links with the world has been announced.

Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Clive Butchins won the inaugural Borehamwood and Elstree Twin Town Association’s (BETTA) photography competition.

His image, taken outside the Rathaus in Borehamwood’s twin town of Offenburg, shows a small child peeping curiously over a metal fountain.

Judged by Borehamwood Times photographer Peter Beal, the award was presented at BETTA’s international evening at Fairway Hall on Wednesday.

Anyone who had visited the twin towns of Offenburg in Germany or Fontenay-aux-Roses in France, or who had attended a BETTA event, was eligable to enter.

The representative for Brookmeadow won a voucher for a meal at a French restaurant and a year’s free membership of the organisation.

The twin town association's chairman Martine Eni presented the prize to Cllr Charles Kelly, as Cllr Butchins was on holiday.
