Folkstock festival in Aldenham Country Park in Dagger Lane today
More than 2,000 people are expected to flock to a country park today for a music festival.
Visitors to Folkstock Festival in Aldenham Country Park will be treated to a mixture of acoustic, folk and roots music from 70 musicians, almost half of whom are from the local area.
Headline acts will include Lucy Ward, Kris Drever, Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, Marina Florance and Reg Meuross.
Billed as an "old fashioned" and "relaxed" family day out, there will be activities to suit all the family.
Local breweries will be selling real ale, there will be a wide range of stalls and street vendors selling food to order including pizza, crepes, cakes and a vintage tea tent.
There willl be ukelele and singing demonstrations from local bands as well as the chance to try out new crafts.
Clustered around the village green area, featuring ceilidhs and morris dancing, will be stalls hosted by community groups from Borehamwood and the surrounding area.
Run by bodies as diverse as St Nicholas Church in Elstree and Watford Peace Hospice will be running crafts and raising awareness of their work.
Organiser Helen Messiner said the event, which runs from 11am until 11pm, would be wonderful for all the family.
She commented: "This festival will be a stepping stone for the many unsigned independent musicians and I am sure that most will go on to gain the recognition and boost they need to break into the national consciousness."
