Councillor Alan Plancey donates £1,000 to charity Old Tyme Music Hall show
A charity show will go on thanks to funding from a county councillor.
Representative for Borehamwood South Alan Plancey has allocated £1,000 from his locality budget to help fund an Old Tyme Music Hall event.
Held in aid of Hertsmere Mencap and the Ark Theatre in Borehamwood, the production will take place on March 22 at the theatre in Thrift Farm Lane.
Cllr Plancey said Hertsmere Mencap did “superb” work in looking after children with learning disabilities, many of whom can be “forgotten”, adding he wished to support the charity in any way he could.
He said: “Let’s hope the show is a success.”
The money will go towards buying props, costumes and special effects for the production, which will showcase local talent.
Co-producer and director Susan Moser said she was “very grateful” for Cllr Plancey’s contribution.
She added: “Now we can get this show on the road.”
Harking back to the golden age of music hall in the Victorian era, the Old Tyme Music Hall will combine popular song, comedy, specialty acts and variety entertainment.
Borehamwood North County Councillor Leon Reefe has already set aside £500 for the production.
