Allum Lane in Borehamwood to reopen on Sunday
A road whose closure has caused traffic chaos will reopen on Sunday.
Allum Lane in Borehamwood has been closed since August 9 as Affinity Water carried out major road works.
The £2.2million project to replace the old water mains is nearing completion and the diversion at the railway bridge will be lifted.
The stretch of the road between Theobald Street and Deacons Hill Road was closed, meaning bus services and cars were diverted via Furzehill Road, Barnet Lane, Elstree High Street and Elstree Hill North.
However there may still be disruptions as Affinity Water carry out minor work in the surrounding area.
This has been agreed with Hertfordshire County Council and will be finished by the end of September.
A spokesman for the utility company said: ”We would like to thank our customers for their patience whilst we carry out this vital project for the area.”
Theobald Street has also reopened following emergency work yesterday to repair a burst water main.
