Hertfordshire County Councillor Leon Reefe funds graffiti project from locality budget
A councillor has given young people a helping hand to transform their area using graffiti.
Hertfordshire County Councillor Leon Reefe has allocated £800 from his locality budget towards the cost of next week’s graffiti project in Aberford Park in Borehamwood.
Devised by a police community support officer, the project is designed to give the skate park and basketball court a makeover and young people a sense of ownership.
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on community projects in their area. Cllr Reefe said his contribution was part of his commitment to the local community.
The Borehamwood North representative added: "The project, organised by one of the local PCSOs and supported by the local police, is something for the local youths and kids to participate in.
“It is also a chance for them to contribute to the appearance of the local area and have some fun doing it.”
Teenagers interested in taking part in the project should go to the Farriers Way Community Centre on tonight at 7pm, where they can demonstrate their ideas for graffiti murals.
