Watford FC football coaching in Ripon Park in Borehamwood
Football stars of the future can benefit from top class coaching this summer.
Watford Football Club has been offering youngsters in Borehamwood the chance to gain professional training from the likes of Gianfranco Zola.
Run in co-operation with Hertsmere Leisure and Affinity Sutton, sessions are open to young people aged eight to 19.
Projects Coordinator at Hertsmere Leisure Rob Dodkin said the sessions, which take place in Ripon Park, had so far been a “fantastic” success.
He added: “This has been a great opportunity for youngsters to get some professional coaching and improve their skills and their game.”
More than 30 youngsters have been turning up each week and this Wednesday will be the last chance to take part.
Sessions will run from 5pm until 6pm for children aged eight to 11, from 6pm to 7pm for teenagers aged 12 to 15 and from 7pm to 8pm for young people aged 16 and above.
Hertsmere Borough Council’s portfolio holder for leisure, culture and health Brenda Batten, said she was pleased so many young people had taken advantage of this opportunity.
She added: “Sport plays an important part in helping young people keep fit and active, learn team skills, make friends, have fun and engage in a positive way.”
