People living in and around Borehamwood can have their say on Hertsmere Borough Council's licensing policy.

Every five years the council must completely review its licensing policy under The Licensing Act 2003.

The council is in charge of granting licenses to premises including clubs, bars and takeaways as well as providing licenses for temporary events notices.

The authority’s current policy has been in place since 2010 and needs to be updated to reflect changes in the law including the Live Music Act 2012 and the revised licensing guidance in October 2012.

The Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 also amended the Licensing Act
2003 to mean that anyone can make a representation regarding a licence application regardless of how far away they live or work from the premises.

Members of the public are invited to have their say on the policy by August 12.
