THE latest scandal to hit the university hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust is nothing new. The NHS Trusts for years have done everything they can to avoid litigation in every possible way which includes destroying any documents relating to any possible complaint.
In my own case, every document held by the former Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust, now known as the Aneurin Bevan NHS Trust, are now missing and that includes all correspondence up to 2006 which means there is no record of my son Brendan being born on May 29th 1974 or the fact that they held his organs for 28 years until my family and I had to endure a second funeral in 2002.
A police investigation started after I made a complaint about the missing documents found that they were destroyed by a “clerical error”. The police refused to give me any evidence that they had actually investigated my complaint.
