The "much loved" headteacher of Yavneh College has passed away after a short illness.
Dr Dena Coleman, the headmistress of the Hillside Avenue, Borehamwood, school died today.
Staff and pupils were said to be devastated after being told the news earlier this afternoon.
Yavneh College was Dr Coleman's third headship, following a career in education spanning more than 30 years.
Chair of governors, Sue Nyman, paid tribute to Dr Coleman, and said: "Dena was dearly loved and will be terribly missed by all students, parents, staff, governors and trustees.
"Our thoughts and prayers at this sad time go out to her family.”
In a statement, the school added: "Our community was devastated to hear today that our much loved and respected has passed away.
"Her outstanding leadership made Yavneh into one of the most successful schools in the country."
