German visitors will enjoy a visit to Elstree studios, Big Ben and a historical walk during they stay in the borough this week.

The Borehamwood and Elstree Twin Town Association welcomed guests from the village’s twin town Offenburg, near the Black Forest in Germany, this weekend.

A group of around 20 people from Volkshochschule Offenburg – a further education college in the borough – will be staying in the area for the week.

They were greeted by Mayor of Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council Charles Kelly as they stepped off the coach on Sunday.

Andrew Grady, vice chairman of the association, said: “It is always great to forge links with the town and that is why I think these trips are important.

“It’s nice to be able to welcome more and more people from Offenburg, so they can find out a bit more about where we live.

“I enjoyed seeing them and am looking forward to the activities planned this week, luckily they know the great British weather isn’t always like this.”

During their stay, the group will also be visiting neighbouring St Albans and enjoying a folk evening at a pub in the area.

Martine Eni, chair of the association, added: “We are happy to welcome these visitors to our town and hope they enjoy with their stay.”
