Green-fingered teenagers picked up shovels and spades to take part in a garden project.

The 13 to 19-year-olds took to Borehamwood last week to build a new bench, flowerbed and fence in the village.

The project was launched by the Youth Connexions centre and funded by housing association Affinity Sutton.

Mayor Pat Strack and Councillor Sandra Parnell joined a celebration event to congratulate the group on their achievements.

Mayor Strack said: “The young people had accomplished a worthwhile task. It is great to see their energy and enthusiasm being channelled in such a way”.
