A headteacher has vowed “the best is yet to come” from a school which was given a 'good' rating by Ofsted inspectors.
Kenilworth Primary School, in Kenilworth Road, Borehamwood, passed an interim inspection in January, meaning the school will not need another full inspection until 2014.
But headteacher Samantha Jayasuriya said the school’s success is mainly down to teachers, who work hard to make sure all children are happy and treated well.
She added said: “We want to do the best for every child and that means treating them as unique people.
“By giving them the chance to have an input into how the school is run we feel the children feel more than just a number here.
“The teachers are fantastic. I can’t take the credit for this good result myself. They make the learning as exciting as possible and it produces good results.
“It is very promising to know we are still on track as a good school.”
Ms Jayasuriya, who was appointed to the role last September, is now aiming for the school to be judged 'outstanding' in the next report.
The school’s last inspection in 2010 was ‘good’, meaning it does not have to have a full inspection for three years – but will have an interim report instead.
The report praises the school’s focus on helping disabled pupils or those who have special educational needs, as well as attendance.
She added: “The teachers are now driving up our standards and putting a greater focus on the core subjects, while making learning fun and interesting for the kids.
“I have my predecessor to thank for how well the school is doing. This is just the start.”
