Borehamwood children can creative and come up with names for new rubbish lorries

The new lorries The new lorries

Children have been invited to come up with names for the borough's new rubbish trucks.

The most imaginative names will be written on the cabs of each of Hertsmere’s six new lorries.

Those who come up with the winning names will win a £30 gift voucher and a visit to their school from a waste truck, where they will have the chance to sit in the driver’s seat.

There will also be a chance to learn more about recycling from the council’s community waste officer, and to get creative with eco-friendly arts and crafts.

The competition is open to children aged five to 11 who go to school in Hertsmere. To enter, send your suggestions and a sentence explaining why the names should be chosen on a postcard to the council offices, in Elstree Way, Borehamwood.

Entries can also be e-mailed to corporate.communications@hertsmere.gov.uk
