The chink of penny and twopenny coins can be heard around an Aldenham school as children help raise cash for charity.

Year Four pupils at Edge Grove, in Aldenham Village, have been collecting coppers to send to the Landirani Trust, a charity supporting orphans in Malawi.

The seven and eight-year-olds were each given jam jars in January, and took them home to fill with money for the African charity.

Last week, the children - known as the Jam Jar Army - raised more than £100 and are said to be over the moon with their success.
