Furious drivers have rallied together to produce a video highlighting "chaos" at an accident blackspot.

The campaigners, who have called for 24-hour traffic lights at Stirling Corner roundabout, will be showcasing the film at a transport forum meeting next week.

Sue Alford, of Hunter Close, Borehamwood, directed the three-minute piece to urge Transport for London (TfL) to install safety measures at the accident hotspot.

The 46-year-old added: “I was frustrated with how many crashes happen there and I wanted to do something to raise awareness.

“You take your life into your own hands when you pass through it. It is general chaos, with cars merging from every direction.

“I literally shake when I pass through the roundabout and I think something has to be done as soon as possible.

“It is completely ridiculous and I don’t know what else I can do.”

The speed limit in the area is 70mph and traffic lights operate only from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, which many feel is not adequate.

Pedestrians have previously told the Borehamwood Times they are too afraid to use the crossings on the roundabout and take the bus instead.

A spate of accidents last year included one fatality in February.

GLA member for Barnet Andrew Dismore has launched a safety survey in a bid to convince TfL, which owns the roundabout, to take action.

But the firm has previously said there is “no need” to install round the clock signals in the area.

Anyone is invited to the meeting, which will be held at the civic offices, in Elstree Way, Borehamwood, next Thursday March 7 from 7pm.
