Victims of anti-social behaviour are being urged to ring the police to report the crime as soon as it happens.

Two 16-year-old boys were arrested this weekend after they were they were caught kicking a football and throwing stones at a house in Eldon Avenue on Saturday evening.

But after the officers left, residents claimed around ten boys turned up and started “causing mayhem” on their quiet street.

Detectives turned up to break up the mob at around 2am, and two more boys – aged 15 and 16 – were arrested for breaking car wing mirrors and windows on the street.

Borehamwood Neighbourhood Inspector Richard Johnson said: “Unfortunately, we were not made aware of any anti-social crimes prior to that in Borehamwood.

“We will not tolerate any kind of criminal damage and unruly behaviour. We are committed to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.

“We will do everything we can do make it uncomfortable for those disrupting the lives of other residents.”

The day after the teens were arrested, neighbourhood officers carried out house-to-house enquiries and dropped off leaflets about what happened to residents in the area.
