A “little known” corner of Elstree has been given cash to help spruce the area up.
Composers Park, in Sullivan Way, will benefit from an extra £2,000 to help build new play equipment, welcome signs and an information board in the area.
Plans to restore and enhance wildlife habitats in the park have also been drawn up by park owners Hertsmere Borough Council, and the Countryside Management Service.
Last year, a consultation showed how some residents did not know the park existed – and 90 per cent of people gave the proposed improvements the thumbs up.
Councillor Morris Bright, leader of Hertsmere Council, said: “Composers Park is a lovely and important green space, which already is home to wildflowers, insects and a wide range of birds.
“Not only will this project help us to boost the numbers of wildlife there, but it should make the park a more inviting place for families.”
The cash was donated to the park from the Ward Improvement Scheme, where councillors are all given £1,000 to spent on local projects for the year.
The funding adds to a £56,300 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund given to the project in November.
