A gifted student got a taste of life at Cambridge University as part of a shadowing scheme.
Georgia O’Brien, a pupil at Hertswood Academy in Thrift Farm Lane, was one of 370 pupils who took part in the project.
The 17-year-old teamed up with a student from Emmanuel College, and attended lectures and social events to try out life as an undergraduate student.
Georgia, who hopes to study English at university, said: “I was worried it would be a confusing place, but everyone was so welcoming.
“The colleges provide a lovely home for students and it feels very safe and friendly.
“My mentor made sure I saw as much as possible of the academic and social side of Cambridge. I feel more confident in applying now I have enjoyed the whole experience.”
Organised annually, the shadowing scheme aims to give bright young people the opportunity to experience life at top universities.
