Hundreds of people flocked to an event to find out more about the police force’s plans to tackle crime.

The Shop Watch event was held in Shenley Road, Borehamwood yesterday to raise awareness about the new scheme in which shop keepers are given radios so they can share information with the police.

During yesterday’s event, people spoke to police officers about anti-social behaviour and crime prevention in the area.

Officers also put up a board showing the borough’s most wanted shop lifters to help garner public support in catching them.

PC Andy Brown, who organised the event with PC Iain Wise, said: “We wanted to publicise the CCTV photos of people we want to speak to in connection with shoplifting in Borehamwood.

“The big screen attracted a lot of attention and residents and shoppers thought it was a good idea. It was a fantastic opportunity to speak to officers about other issues, too.”

Shop Watch is supported by Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership. For more information on the scheme, ring the council offices and ask for Valerie Kane.
