The next Michael Jordan could come from a local primary school, after slam-dunking children beat several other teams in a basketball tournament.

The under 13s team from Edge Grove, in Aldenham Village, took a trip to Wellington College last week for the IAPS National Basketball finals.

After winning their first game against St Neots school 16-3, the team also went on to win the next three games and played Yately Manor in the semi-finals.

At the half time mark Edge Grove were losing 6-0 - but the boys sprung into action and after a tense second half and ended up winning 15-6.

The final, against pre-tournament favorites Papplewick School, saw them lose 19-4 - but the Edge Grove pupils were still thrilled to be named runners up.
