People can report anti-social behaviour and other hate crimes at their fingertips thanks to a new mobile-app.

Report It has been designed as a quick and easy way for residents to report crime directly to Hertfordshire Constabulary.

The Smartphone app will help those living in anti-social behaviour hotspots in Borehamwood – such as Eldon Avenue, Crown Road and Alban Crescent.

Last year, a dispersal order was introduced in Alban Crescent to help deter gangs of teens who saw tormenting residents as an "urban sport".

Three weeks ago, residents told the Borehamwood Times they too were “living in fear” as a result of the yobs – some as young as 14 – who were caught slashing tires and smashing windows.

Chief Inspector Julie Wheatley, from Herts Police, said: “Reporting hate crime is important as it gives us a better understanding of the level of it across the country.

“It also helps raise awareness that this form of negative behaviour towards others is unacceptable and can help stop it happening to someone else.”
