Curious students were given a unique insight into the workings of the House of Lords when a Conservative peer dropped in to their school this morning.

Sixth formers from Hertswood Academy, Thrift Farm Lane, Borehamwood, welcomed Lord Fink of Northwood for a question and answer session at 11.30am.

He spoke about various aspects of his career - including what life is like as the Conservative party’s treasurer as part of the House of Lord’s new ‘peers for schools’ programme.

The pupils also listened to him discuss the importance and the role of the House of Lords and Parliament.

After the event, the curious 16 to 18-year-olds - some who are budding politicians - were given the chance to ask more questions about his life as a peer.
