Hertsmere Borough Council launches consultation on Planning and Design Guide

People can have their say on what homes and buildings in the borough should look like in a consultation launched today.

Hertsmere Borough Council last week launched a consultation on its updated planning and design guide, which features rules on developments from single houses to large-scale building works.

The revised guidelines show the minimum size a residential property should be and clarifies the standards developments in gardens have to meet.

There is also updated guidance aimed at protecting tenants' privacy, their right to light and outlook from their homes, and ensuring people living in flats have access to green space.

The consultation runs until Friday March 8 at 5pm and the revised document – along with feedback from the survey – will be presented to the council’s executive committee.

Copies of the guide are available to view at the Civic Offices, in Elstree Way, and the area offices in Potters Bar and Bushey. Comments can be emailed to local.plan@hertsmere.gov.uk or by writing to the council.
