Service to mark Holocaust Memorial Day at Hersmere Borough Offices
8:40am Saturday 26th January 2013 in News By Anna Slater
Last year's Holocaust Memorial Day
Young people are taking the lead in building bridges to remember the courage of those killed in genocides on Monday.
Hertsmere Borough Council is holding an event for religious leaders and school children across the borough to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
During the day, children from Hertswood Academy in Thrift Farm Lane and Yavneh College in Hillside Avenue will be giving a presentation about the genocide in Rwanda.
Students from the Purcell School in Bushey will also be paying their respects to those killed during the war in a musical performance.
The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2013, which falls on January 27 each year, is building bridges. The day marks the anniversary of the day the Soviet Army liberated the largest Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz.
All are welcome to attend the event at the council offices, in Elstree Way, Borehamwood, on Monday, January 28 at 10.15am.
