‪Work on a £42million mental health centre in Radlett will start later this month.

The new facility at Kingsley Green will be completed by summer 2014 but NHS staff involved in the project will be visiting the site next week.

Services at the centre will include an inpatient assessment and treatment for adults suffering severe problems.

The inpatient facility, situated on the former Harperbury NHS site, will also feature courtyard gardens, lounges and quiet spaces as well as therapy areas.

The centre will be on the same site as Forest House, a unit for young people who need inpatient mental health care.

It is actually not even in Hertsmere, the boundary runs around it.

First they told us that it was so great to close down the hospitals and moved the wards into the community i.e. in the towns where the patient come from. Now they are going backwards in moving the wards back into “hospital grounds” AWAY from the town where the patients live.
The Harperbury site is becoming a mini psychiatric hospital... a step back to the old days of the defunct institutions which they criticised!
